I often walk by all the gardens in my neighborhood, admiring the different color combinations the plants form. When I was working on an extremely large painting last summer, I would spend my time staring at the colors in these gardens for clues on how to combine different palettes in the same piece. I know that a garden is usually a chosen, organized combination of plants but I like to revel in the colors that nature has also managed to combine on its own. These are not the greatest photos but simply studies on color that I hope to stick in my files and paint later for a better grasp on color complexities.
